Hello Tom, sorry for the delay.
I'm afraid the Velleman kit is a fairly old and (as you experienced) not very well supported by QLC+ or other softwares.
In the past, I've had a good experience with a couple of users to support their adapters.
Basically they sent me the device, I integrated and tested it in QLC+ and then I sent it back via ordinary mail.
If you're interested in such arrangement, please contact me at my private email address to discuss about it.

I have the Velleman K8062 but unfortunately it does not seem to work with QLC or OLA.
However I was able the get the adaptor to work on the Pi using DMXWHEEL http://www.engeldinger.com/services/latest-project/dmxwheel
so I'm wondering if anyone else has had any success with this adaptor?
or
recommendations for an inexpensive, but more importantly, small adaptor that works with QLC+?
THanks
I'm not having any success with the Velleman K8062/VM116
:(
So, I ordered a ultraDMX Micro from DMXking.com, but it ships from New Zealand, so won't be able to test it for a bit. http://shop.dmxking.com/ultraDMX-Micro_p_15.html
