Hi, I'm using 4.8.3 on Mac OS 10.8.5.
QLC constantly crashes in this version. If I try to open an older project, create a new project, save a new project, import fixture etc it just crashes. I need to open an older project that was created in 4.8.2 by double clicking on the .qxw file and then editing that file and then doing a Save As. And When I open files, I have to double click the .qxw file to open it. Any known issues about this?
    Thanks.

if something crashes on osx, most times you get an error report. is it possible for you to post this report?

Are the files in another folder other than the main QLC+ folder? I believe I read this is a known issue that's fixed in the next release. Your .qxw files have to be in the main QLC+ folder. (C:\QLC+\file.qxw)

OOPS, my bad. The folder issue was about a bug with the input/output tab.

No, that issue was windows only.

      Report would certainly help.

Thanks for replying(whew) :-). All the files are in the QLC+ folder in Apps. Should I just paste the crash report here or send it as a text file?

Add it as an attachment here.

1 is the report on Opening a file and 2 is report on trying to import a Fixture.
    BTW this is 4.8.3

Not sure but it seems to be related to the MIDI plugin.
Try to delete the QLC+ preferences file

Are you talking about the info.plist in the Package Contents? If not then where would I find the pref file? Thanks guys.

    • Massimo Callegari

If I remember (and searching this forum) they should be in
      $HOME/Preferences/net.sf.Q Light Controller...

Maybe some OSX user can help here.

Still can't seem to find out which file to delete. Actually, I suspected it to be some MIDI problem. Now that you mentioned it, I think the problem happened after installing the Native Instruments Maschine Controller. I'd like to to do a clean install of QLC+ but that damn preferences still show the installed controllers from earlier.

Thanks for that Jano. This is what happens

    rm net.sf.Q Light Controller Plus.plist
rm: net.sf.Q: No such file or directory
rm: Light: No such file or directory
rm: Controller: No such file or directory
rm: Plus.plist: No such file or directory

When I list the files it shows in the directory but when I try to execute it doesnt. But i removed a file called qlcplus.plist accidentally :-/

  • Massimo Callegari

    Oh
    my
    god

rm 'net.sf.Q Light Controller Plus.plist' (as written in the documentation)

    OR

    rm net.sf.Q\ Light\ Controller\ Plus.plist

      Chapter 2:
On Linux and OSX use the rm 'filename' command to delete the configuration file

Aaah. I didn't put the quotes. Deleted that file. Nothing has changed. Still crashes when hitting the 'Open' icon.
    Appreciate the help guys.

I think the problem happened after installing the Native Instruments Maschine Controller

I know it's not ideal, but for the sake of science: can you try uninstalling the NI Machine Controller ?

I tried removing everything Native Instruments. .plist extensions
    No luck.

    Browse the DMG bundle.
Find a file called "libmidiplugin.dylib" (should be in a folder called Plugins)
MOVE it out of the DMG bundle.

    Start QLC+ again

Hey Jano, Massimo any luck with finding the specific problem by checking the Error Report? No pressure. Thanks.
