Hi folks. I am getting two Chauvet Scorpion Storm FX RGB lasers. I could not find them in the list of already defined fixtures so I sat down to program them myself. The thing is that Channel 2 has 2 completely different sets of values and meanings depending on the value of Channel 1. I don't know how to program that. Can someone help me to understand how to set that up. Even the ranges of DMX values are different so it's not just a matter of having different meanings. The DMX ranges are actually defined differently for Channel 2 depending on Channel 1 value.

    Thanks,
    Rob

Rob can you provide a link to the manual?

Here is the link to the manual:

      http://www.chauvetlighting.com/scorpion-storm-fx-rgb.html

You will see the manual under "Resources" tab

    Hi Rob,

There are two approaches: If you will not be changing DMX mode during a show, create two modes with the different setups as channels and choose between them.

Or, you have to add all the possibilities and maybe describe them using function A/function B. Not ideal.

    Regards,

    Rob

Thanks for all the help. However, the DMX assignments in the manual for EU do not appear to be the same as for the US. Here are the assignments as seen in the manual I got from the Chauvet site:

I did wonder about that. Can you modify the definition I created? I need to go now.

I decided that for the purposes I am going to use these lights, I can live with just all the automated choices. I am not really going to have time during a show to be playing to rotations, motor speeds, etc. With just the auto settings I will have over 20 choices so I am going to start with that.

I tried using different modes but that doesn't work out well for me since when you put a fixture into a configuration you have to choose which mode it will be in. I tried setting up two sets of fixtures, one set in each mode, but you can't duplicate DMX addresses so that didn't work either.

Here's an update. Perhaps somebody at Chauvet can explain why the DMX ranges overlap by one across the different modes. Absolutely no reason for it.

In fact, why not just delete channel 1 and split 2 up so that sanity is retained without losing a channel?
