    Hi,

I'm in the middle of programming a lightshow for theatre use. At the moment I'm doing it all at home using my desktop PC running windows. To run the lightshow at different theatres I obviously need a laptop. While not being really used to it, it might be safer to run Ubuntu on the laptop, I suppose. A touchscreen would be nice, but not necessary. Since I program the show at home, it wouldnt need to have a big screen.
Does anyone have some recommendations for an affordable Laptop to run qlc+ on?

I use a small asus netbook 13" (I bought it about 300euros 3 years ago) running on ubuntu gnome edition , as VLC has a low CPU consumption, it runs perfectly on it. It is the OS that begins to be quite fat for the netbook...
On those laptops, you may prefer xubuntu.

My equipment, a 6 years HP-550 Notebook with Ubuntu 14.04, an Enttec DMX USB Pro and a NanoKontrol2. I wrote a post in this forum explaining my first experience with QLC+.

I run theatre shows with an ancient ASUS A2500H laptop (circa 2003). I run lubuntu as I want minimal and it works brilliantly. It even has Audacity on it so I can record and edit the audio clips/backing tracks/rehearsal tracks.

If you have an old, under-used laptop go for that.

QLC+ runs on a Raspberry Pi, quite happily, so you do not need lots of power to run in.

So you guys basically say any cheap laptop would work well?
Does anyone know if ubuntu supports touchscreens natively?

    Thanks for your replys already!

If you load Linux (I recommend Lubuntu) you'll be fine as long as the laptop itself is reliable.

I'm not sure QLC+ knows what to do with multitouch gestures. I recall Massimo saying that it requires a major rework of the UI and that it is slated for a later bigger edition.

Single finger usage could work - let us know, I'm curious.
