Hello all, one thing QLC+ is missing are submasters, to adjust the level of specific functions/channels during live performances.
After a few discussions in another topic, there are a couple of possible solutions and I would like everyone reading this to share their preference for one of them.
The common ground is that a new mode (after Levels and Playback) will be added to Virtual Console sliders, called "submaster".
Proposal 1) Submasters will be bound to channel groups, so in the configuration panel you will have to choose to which groups the submaster will act Pros:
* Always act on channel groups, whether or not a function is running
* There can be more than one submaster over a channel group Cons:
* Channel groups have to be defined carefully before using this
* The slider will act the same not consider any context (e.g. nested frames)
Proposal 2) Submasters will act on functions intensity of the current frame. It will be possible to select between "All running functions" and "Manual functions selection" Pros:
* depending on where the slider is placed, it will affect only the desired context (e.g. nedted frames)
* it can act on any QLC+ function supporting the "intensity" attribute, so Scenes, Chasers, EFX, RGB Matrices and Audio Cons:
* it won't control specific channels apart for the one used by a function
* it acts only on intensity channels so any other LTP channel like pan, tilt, macros cannot be controlled
Please give your preference on this. Just say 1 or 2.
Thanks !

hummm. 1 has its pros.. depending on what your trying to do . I can see its usefulness in cases where you want a to sync channels together..
but i think 2 is a bit more flexible. If you compare the idea of a sub-master in the context of how a VCA works in audio.. its not that different than in how it would affect lighting. being able to set a number faders or values and give them a master variant or control an HTP factor. like in a VCA your able to select specific functions in a frame ( bank) .. I vote 2

OK, thanks to everyone. I guess this poll can be closed now.
I've implemented the functionality as proposal #2.
For now it controls every widget in a frame. I need to figure out which options are worth to be added (for example a custom list of widgets to be controlled)

2, also with the ability of submastering sliders in level mode.

Great, thanks! Just had a play with it, works great!
