    Hi Massimo

Like Jeff on another thread I'm having issues with the latest 4.8 build and Windows 8 which I suspect is in part due to the QT5 change.

    My symptoms are these.

If I load an audio track in the Functions (not Shows) tab then I can preview it and it plays back. If it is an MP3 it plays back fine but a WAV is very choppy as if the system is under intense load, which it isn't.

If I start a new show and add the audio track I loaded in the functions tab, or if I load one directly in the Show tab, then when I try and preview the timeline very odd things happen. The behaviour seems the same in show and design mode. There is no audio at all and QLC seems to be heavily overloaded and takes many seconds to respond to a click while saturating a whole CPU core. I usually have to force kill QLC at this point, which is highly unusual.

If I add a simple scene to another track then it will play back but only for the section of the timeline that the scene is in.

I did try downloading the test QT5 release you posted Massimo and can report that seems to run as 4.7.4 does, but I only checked audio preview and timeline behaviour in that.

I have only looked at this area on my Win8 desktop, my 'show' laptop is Win7 so could test on that if it would help. I have also not tested with the USB DMX dongle.

Let me know what other info I can help with, work may mean I don't respond right away but will do what I can.

Thanks folks, must get around to posting my fixture definitions to help out.

    Update on 4.8.1

Show timelines now work - nice one, thanks for the rapid turn around. Very much hoping the new show features will help my next event.

However I'm still getting very choppy/distorted playback of WAV files in 4.8.1 that I've never had in the 4.7.x releases.

I can programme a show with the noisy wav playback and switch to to MP3 for actual use - but it worries me there is a lurking QT5/Windows issue still to be found.

This machine is my video/audio workstation so there are a number of audio tools and the wav files in question play back fine in other software so I don't think the issue lies in the files.

Charles, can you please give us more details about the WAVE files you're using ?
For example: sample rate, number of channels, bits per sample.
That could help to reproduce and debug the issue you're experiencing.

      Thanks

Sure, in fact hopefully I can do some samples.

One thing I discovered is that last night I mixed the tracks to mono for the PA, and the mono files don't have the issues - it is only stereo 16 bit standard wav files.

In the attached zip please find a ~30s sample of one of the tracks for the event.

        sample_mono.wav
        sample_mono.mp3
        sample_stereo.wav
        sample_stereo.mp3

Also find sample_stereo_playback.mp3 which I recorded by sticking my Zoom H6 in my monitor headphones - terrible recording technically but shows the noise which seems to be volume related?
