For some reason, qingy doesn't get run automatically on my tty1.

I'm running Ubuntu 9.10 with Grub2. My */etc/event.d/tty1* now reads:

    start on stopped rc2
    start on stopped rc3
    start on stopped rc4
    start on stopped rc5

    stop on runlevel 0
    stop on runlevel 1
    stop on runlevel 6

    exec /usr/sbin/qingy tty1

But I still just have plain old getty. Once I log in, I can run

> sudo qingy tty1

and get a fine looking and fully functional qingy login.

Any ideas? Thanks,
