Qingy workes fine for me until I recompiled glibc with
nptl-support.
It still starts but when I try to login it just jumps
back to loginscreen instead of opening my shell or
starting a xsession.
Getty works without any problemes.
Recompiling qingy did not work.
I`m using gentoo linux with newest updates and qingy 0.4

Hi, could you please try recompiling DirectFB as well? This
is where most thread stuff is done...

I`m sorry, but it`s still the same after recompiling DirectFB :/

    I reply myself:
This is an actual problem that also affects mandrake 10
users; I just installed that distro and will do what I can
    as soon as possible...

I can reproduce this on a kernel 2.6.6/glibc 2.3.3 with NPTL system. A
    few remarks to this:
    - power down, sleep, saver, reset work perfectly
    - when logging in using agetty and excuting qingy in a regular shell, it
works without problems; when called from inittab, it shows the
behaviour mentioned in the original report

I rebuilt my own system using nptl, and what Gentoo linux
considered the stable version of all the system libraries:
    gentoo-dev-sources-2.6.5
    linux-headers-2.6.5
    glibc-2.3.3.20040420
qingy is working fine for me, so this is not a nptl related bug.
Note, however, that I just found an incompatibility between
kernel 2.6.7 (maybe 2.6.6 is also affected) and DirectFB. My
machine will hard lock when trying to start any DirectFB
app. Probably this is not your case, but you could try a
2.6.5 kernel and see what happens...

It was the nptl after all...
With that enabled any DirectFB app will lock your machine
(under 2.6.7, maybe others as well).
Recompile glibc without nptl, then DirectFB, finally qingy
and the problem will go away.
This is a DirectFB problem, btw, not a qingy bug.

Thanks a lot for your new release! After severeal months
everything is working perfectly again, even with nptl. Good
    work!

Yup, these issues were really getting on my nerves...
So I thought that maybe I could try to circumvent them ;-)
