It is possible that I was doing something wrong, but I could not get consistent results across different DVD players using the flag. This is not a fault of qdvdauthor. I wanted the "intro" to be played exactly one time when DVD is inserted and never to be played again. This could not be achieved with the <fpc> flag even though, as far as I understand, it is designed for it. What I ended up using is a register variable and putting the "intro" as a separate titleset. (I noticed that commerial DVDs do not seem to use fpc flag either). Then in the vmgm menu, I have a statement in <pre> to check if the register is equal to zero (default). If it is, I go on and play the intro titleset and set the register to 1. In this "intro" titleset, I have a check in <pre> and <post> that if the register is equal to 1, go to the main vmgm entry. This way the intro is never played again. Lazar > > Varol :) > > On 11/23/2010 03:43 PM, Gary Dale wrote: > > How do I add a short introductory video before the > main menu? That is actually pretty easy. Simply click on your menu and "Add Intro ...". Make sure it is already in VOB format. This will create the <fpc> tag. Hey Gary. This can be done by inserting a intro. mainmenu -- DVDmenu -- Add Intro good luck, Jurgen Op dinsdag 23 november 2010 21:43:37 schreef Gary Dale: > How do I add a short introductory video before the main menu? How do I add a short introductory video before the main menu? I want it to play automatically when the DVD is inserted then go automatically to the menu when it ends. |

Gary, I looked at the output.txt file and I see that the transcoding time was around 13 minutes. Can you tell me how long the generated video "/tmp/A-014/A-014/A-014.mpeg2" is ? It seems of the generated chapters, the last one 00:11:19.500 is set at 679.445 seconds, which would mean, that the whole video is less than 00:23:21.000. The last transcoding line states : Pos:1279.9s 42634f (25%) 151.25fps Trem: 13min 2922mb A-V:0.066 [4568:192]^MPos:1280.0s 42635f (25%) 151.25fps Trem: 13min 2922mb A-V:0.069 [4568:192] So it seems that only 25% was converted to mpeg2 ( It should be around 1hour and 30min == 5400 seconds instead of 1280 seconds ) Looking at the command : /usr/bin/mencoder -oac lavc -ovc lavc -ss 0 -endpos 5448 -mpegopts format=dvd:tsaf -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg2video:vrc_buf_size=1835:aspect=4/3:vrc_maxrate=9800:vbitrate=6600:keyint=15:acodec=mp2:abitrate=192 -vf scale=720:480,harddup -srate 48000 -ofps 30000/1001 -of mpeg -o "/tmp/A-014/A-014/A-014.mpeg2" "/home/garydale/mnt/media/video/to be burned/A-014/A-014.avi" So the problem seems to be mencoder does not transcode the whole video ( from ss=0 to endpos=5448 ). You can try out the above command manually and see if this happens again. You can also try one of the other available transcoding options. Maybe try ffmpeg instead. Note: Please remember, that once the video is transcoded and you want to re-create the DVD you can simply un-check the transcoding part so you won't have to wait an hour. Note2: If ffmpeg works better for transcoding on your system, you can click on [d]efault http://qdvdauthor.sourceforge.net/images/commandqueue.png I hope this helped fixing your issue. Gary those are good observations. However I suspect the issue to be simpler. Can you please send me the file that is generated through [ Tools -> Feedback ...] this way I can take a look at the dvd structure that is being created. A note to the chapter generation etc. QDVDAuthor is using MPlayer, or Xine to determine the length of the movie, and to get the screenshots of the movie. You can switch between xine and MPlayer under [ Tools -> Setup ... -> Media Backend ]. xine seems to have a hard time with mpeg2 streams length calculations. I'm running v2.0100 (build: mar 23 2010) from the debian-multimedia repository. I'm getting an error when creating some DVDs with movie buttons. Sometimes I've been getting an error message claiming that there are fewer chapters than the movie actually contains (see below, which is from a project with seven chapters). It's only when I looked at the output.txt file in the project's folder in the /tmp directory that it started to make sense. The project is creating vts_01_1.VOB which actually has four scenes starting in it. However, it seems to be two minutes shorter than the original video at the point that it ends. That is, if I match the ending frame in the .VOB file with the corresponding frame in the original video, the .VOB shows a time that is two minutes less than the original video. Therefore dvdauthor can't find the scene when it's calculating chapters. I understand from previous encounters with MPEG/DVD video that there are several ways that can be used to calculate the total playing time of a clip. Apparently the method used to calculate which chapters should be included in the .VOB file doesn't match the way dvdauthor is using to set the menu jumps. The chapter jumps themselves (in DVDs I've previously created) seem to go to the right spot, but I've noticed that the chapter previews don't always seem to be where I've set them. I'm not sure if that is related or not. However, I suspect that the way qdvdauthor is calculating locations in the movie is off, which is causing both problems. Gary, you can look at this tutorial and I will probably create another one this weekend which explains the usage of the "Add Organize Videos" dialog. http://www.qtdvd.com/guides/FewClickWizard.html Note: while this flash demonstration focuses on the FewClickDialog, it is also covering the Dialog you are talking about. The main idea behind this dialog is to group videos and add the groups to the DVD. You can also simply click on the All videos tab to open a simple file selection dialog. I hope this helped a bit. I'm running v2.0100 (build: mar 23 2010) from the debian-multimedia repository. While I try to follow the quick-start guide, it fails quite quickly. There is no Add Movie button, the Add Movie Source from the DVDauthor menu opens a dialog but doesn't let me select a movie, and the Add Movie from the DVDmenu menu seems to add a button. The add/organize videos button when I select the videos tab in the left panel does the same thing as the Add Movie Source menu item. It allows me to browse to the movie but selecting it does nothing. Because of this, I can build nice menus with movie buttons but can't connect the buttons to a chapter in a movie. I've tried purging and reinstalling but that doesn't work either. Any ideas? |
