I just had the newest update of qdvdauthor.
I tried to load a project (I made it with the older version) and Qdvdauthor crashed with this error:
Segmentatiefout (geheugendump gemaakt)
and I think in English this should be:
Segmentationfault (made memorydump)
Anything is welcome.
I noticed that loading stops when the thumbnails are getting in sight.
I tried to make a brand new project and on the moment I wanted to insert the thumbnails in the submenu 'q'dvdauthor crashed.
Oké, after some more searching I figured out that the problem come's with
Kubuntu 9.10 Karmic.
I did a fresh install of Karmic and installed the newest version of Qdvdauthor. There are no problem when loading a project with just plain thumbnails as buttons. When I try to make or load a project with movie buttons everything seems to panic. Qdvdauthor starts to consume a lot of my cpu and even after 30 min. the project isn't loaded.
can you send me the project file. Also what is the last version you have ?
I'll send you the project which fails but did fine under kubuntu jaunty.
And I'll send you a testproject which surprisingly works just fine.
I still have the same problem and I can't find the answer.
It's not only with the thumbnails but also when I insert a .vob file in the menu. Only thing konsole tells me is : segmentation fault
I'm really puzzled because Qdvdauthor always worked fine until I use Karmic and the newest version of Qdvdauthor. I tried to downgrade the program but this did not work…. grrr :(
Do you still have this issue ? I have finally found some time to look into all reported issues of QDVDAuthor. Sorry it took so long.
The problem is most likely with your used MediaBackend. You can try either QMplayerWidget, or KXineWidget.
I tried it with Qmplayer, Qxine and Kxinewidget.
With Qmplayerwidget and Qxinewidget the program will crash while loading the thumbnailes or adding a .vob to a menu.
With Kxinewidget Qdvdauthor just takes a lot of cpu and stops responding on anything.
I'm going to fiddle some more with these widgets.
For now I wish you a great and blessed new year!
After the latest updates from karmic and a fresh install with the latest qdvdauthor the crashing thing is gone.
I really can't tell what the problem was but it's gone.
