The quickcam.sh simplisticly does
dmesg | grep '^quickcam'
This fails to recognize perfectly fine module insertion
and camera detection if the kernel option for
timestamps is enabled. Instead, it looks something like:
[17794429.124000] quickcam: QuickCam USB camera found
(driver version QuickCam USB 0.6.4 $Date: 2006/05/06
[17794429.128000] quickcam: Kernel:2.6.17 bus:1
class:FF subclass:FF vendor:046D product:0840
[17794429.132000] quickcam: Sensor HDCS-1000/1100 detected
[17794429.132000] quickcam: Registered device: /dev/video0
maybe something more like:
dmesg | egrep '^(\[[0-9]+\.[0-9]+] )?quickcam'
instead? I'll let you decide exactly how you want to
work this, or if maybe there's something about my
eregex that isn't quite right.
