New Applications: Qalculate! Bases, Currency, and Units

In some cases the big (bloated) Qalculate! application is not the most efficient and user friendly interface. Why should you, for example, need to load and learn to use the full application just to convert a simple binary number to a decimal, or to see what the price of a foreign product is in your national currency with the current exchange rates.

Therefore, I am now releasing three small utilities: Qalculate! Bases, Qalculate! Currency, and Qalculate! Units. The full libqalculate capabilities is of course available in these applications (arbitrary precision, expression evaluation, etc.), but in graphical user interfaces more fine-tuned for the specific purposes. The screenshots (http://qalculate.sourceforge.net/screenshots.html#qalclets) should be self-explanatory.

Qalculate! version 0.2 hits the streets

Three very productive weeks has gone by since the first rather bad release. Innumerous changes and fixes have turned Qalculate! into a much more useful application. It clearly needs more testing, but most features seem to function really well now. So please, try out version 0.2, even if you really hated the previous release.

Qalculate! source tarball fixed.

A new version of qalculate-gtk has been released which mainly fixes the bad source tarball.

The first release of Qalculate! was a bit messy. I appologize to all of you who have downloaded Qalculate! and not been able to compile it. Hopefully I learn from my mistakes.
