I have read in several places now that MS has decided
to depricate old fashion netscape plug-ins. Not that I
blame them. However, this is bad news for Q3Plug,
since it is a netscape plugin. Also, some of you may
have noticed that Quicktime doesn't seem to work
correctly either ... yeah, you guessed it, netscape
plugin.
Personally, I think one of a couple things could be
cool. either making an activex control of IE, or
exploring making a java version of q3plug. One has the
advantage of working fairly seemlessly with IE, but
not with much else. The other of course will work with
basically everyone, but I think will have other
challenges surrounding the whole sandbox server
connection thing.
Either way, I'd love to see Q3Plug evolve past this in
some form or another. And if your really tempted to
follow up and tell me to just use Netscape, don't
bother ... I don't like netscape and you won't change
my mind with insults, just like I'm sure I won't
change a netscape user to IE by flaming them. And
especially don't talk to me about M$ being evil ...
netscape is owned by AOL ... so the balance of evil is
pretty even.
Thanks,
Satisfied IE user who likes Q3Plug.
