You have already argued that X+0*i should not be parsed as just X,
even when the 0 is exact, in order that the value should appear to be
the complex value that it is. I agree.
Given that X+0*i is unparsed as X+0*i, then by symmetry 0+Y*i should
be unparsed as 0+Y*i.
That's my oar in.
