Hello Albert,

An alternative sometimes used on mailing lists is for the first
submission from a given email address to be manually checked. I
presume this works by having someone manually maintain a list of known
"good" submitters. This mechanism might not be available to you, and
might not be something you want the additional overhead of in any
case.

Failing that, the subscribers-only option would be fine by me. The
spam is certainly becoming a problem.
