I don't like the idea to hardcode the version numbers, given that other
versions than automake 1.9 might well work on most systems. If it's a
Cygwin-specific quirk, then I might just document it as such for the
time being. If not then it needs to be fixed (and it will, as soon as I
can reproduce these problems ;-).
