Ah, the memories... I also started out in my youth, with those 
programmable calculators. At the university, we then had Algol 60, on 
GCOS (anyone still remember that?), so I also remember the punch cards 
and the printouts. Algol was great. Batch processing was not, but it 
taught you how to turn in a program which compiled and ran the first 
time. ;-)

At least you didn't have to program in COBOL. 8->
