Yup, that sounds like a good solution; no or negligible overhead for 
plain ASCII is a must. I think that's also the way that Python and Tcl 
do it.

Well, we'll also have to check the library modules. I guess that clib 
will be affected, as well as the GUI interface and some parts of the 
graphics modules.

Thanks for the offer, I'll get back to you on that. Unfortunately, right 
now I still have some new modules releases on my TODO list and then the 
6.1 version of the interpreter, while my intern is busy developing an 
OpenAL module. So this may take some time. :(
