Eddie, Sorry, I must be dyslexic too, I meant 8.04., 64bit. It took a dislike to my ATA disks, though previous Ubuntus were OK with them. However, I found some "magic incantation" boot options and it works now. You were lucky to get an easy ride, I think. I will look for the LLVM software sources, I like them for their automatic updates.
