Gosh pyzzle has not even been online for a month yet but 1003 = downloads!!! Since I have had next to no feedback, you know who you are. [ (-: nah = just kidding]. I assume the people downloading it have evil intentions. Could the downloads be due to: Microsoft/Adobe/Macromedia's lawyers seeing if I have violated some code = patent. Or could it be Microsoft/Adobe/Macromedia's programmers ripping off my code = for some myst builder they are developing which will cost $1500 for a = student license. Or could it be the Myst fans hoping for another Myst = clone then getting Gloom then saying "ive been pulling these levers for = over 30mins and still nothing has happened yet". Who knows, perhaps it = is just people who like checking out beta software, nah. Microsofts = lawyers definitely. Anyway its got to be good. (-: In other pyzzle news my exams are almost finished so work on Pyzzle-0.2 = will start rocking away very soon. Pyzzle-0.2 will have tonnes of new = features including logically controlled mpeg play back, logically = controlled floating images, graphical cursors, maybe a game object = sample and the usual code scrub. So keep your eye out for it. Pyzzle = will eventually have a new testing environment which I have called: = Gloom II the fortress of Doom. Thanks from your humble developer. Andy |

Hi malefico, welcome to the Pyzzle list. Pyzzle is still very young so i am delighted when someone takes interest.(: > By the way, Pygame could have told something like "Hey > dumbhead give me SDL_image support" instead of the > original message (I couldn't know if it was a pygame > or SDL problem) Ya Pygame still need some more 'user friendly' work done on it. Pygame can be a little stupid at times as well, not detecting the mandrake install of smpeg, that kind of thing. But its still young plenty of room for improvement. Anyway sounds like you got setup ok. Good to see some linux interest in pyzzle also. Most download have been the windows .exe's. I would like Pyzzle and games made with Pyzzle all to have strong linux connections. What platform/disto are u running and how easy/hard was it to get pyzzle setup? I like to get a general idea of pyzzle setup issues so perhaps I can write them in the readme file and FAQ page. I hope you enjoyed Gloom and Cavern there is not much to them yet but Pyzzle-0.2 will be out in a couple of weeks. It will have many more features shown off. Anyway have fun. If you have any further question dont hesitate to ask myself of the list. Oh yes, it was silly. Just forgot to recompile pygame after installing SDL_image. By the way, Pygame could have told something like "Hey dumbhead give me SDL_image support" instead of the original message (I couldn't know if it was a pygame or SDL problem) Thanks anyway. malefico. Hi, I've been trying for a while to run Cavern with the Pyzzle package ($python pyzzle.py) but it always complained with a "Requires the extended image loading from SDL_image". So, I installed SDL_image 1.2, SDL_image_devel and SDL 1.2.2 but still that message appears. (I already have installed last PyGame) Any idea of what the problem could be ? Ive completely reworked the main game loop. Its much more efficient now. Hoppfully this will kill the flickering cursor issue when running from source. dowload: http://pyzzle.sourceforge.net/#patch All comments/bugs reports are welcome. Andy |
