The user guide tells me that in order to install PyXPlot 0.8 I need the package libpng-dev
I'm running ubuntu 8.10 (Intrepid Ibex) (I think..)
I've tried running the apt-get string in the manual, and I've tried using synaptic, but libpng-dev doesn't appear to be available.. I've got libpng12-0, but running ./configure returns ERROR: Header files for required library 'libpng' could not be found.
Any suggestions?
Rosy

The list of packages in the manual refers to the latest version of Ubuntu, which for 0.8.3 is 10.04 (Lucid). These packages may have slightly different names in older or newer Ubuntu versions. However, I think installing PyXPlot under Intrepid may be tricky as that version is no longer supported by Canonical. You best bet is to contact your system administrator and see if you can bribe him with port into upgrading you to a newer version. :-)
