Have you been wanting to write a video player in Python? (Perhaps for the PVR project you've been toying with?) Pyxine lets you play movies using libxine (http://xinehq.de/) from Python.

It's still very much work in progress, but the demo movie players (included in the distribution) work, at least for me.

It may not be worth checking out quite yet unless you're prepared to do some hacking. (However, if you are inclined towards hacking, feel free to help out!)
