About 'Not Used' property, Not the 'required'
property.
Required property I have understood fine.
A segment is present in the X-12N.
This segment has 5 elements.
One of the element of the segment say
number 3 is optional.
The optional property of element is changed
to Required when a certain Condition is
satisfied. All great .
Now referring to the IG quote given below in teh mail,
Does this element become "not used" instead of
optional if the certain condition is false in
the X12N data stream.
Certain condition in the above context can be
maped to an example of say "patient is female"
condition.
Reading teh IG I arrive at the conclusion that
yes it does become Not used.
I will assume that for teh moment till
we hit upon an otherwise conclusion.
