Summary: error (?) in t1strip
Initial Comment:
It appears that the definitions for t1strip are slightly
different depending upon whether the compiled module is
used or not. The compiled module takes 3 or 4 arguments,
but the pure-python substitute takes only 4. This showed up
when I was trying to build the documentation, and because
of a path problem, the compiled _t1strip wasn't found.

You indeed discovered an error in the pure-python
substitute, which
is now fixed in CVS.
