Yes, but please first show your skills and motivation by publishing
good patches or an enhanced version.

Okay. Note however that currently, the project admins on the SF page are
Robb Shecter and Peter =C5strand
(http://sourceforge.net/project/memberlist.php?group_id=3D58155), so thei=
r
cooperation will be necessary to update the web pages, I think.

Okay cool, would you be happy with me taking maintainership?

As I plan to use python-dialog for my project I do not mind hosting
python-dialog it's self as a seperate sub-project and maintaining from
my end. This would also include Debian packaging.

This is many, many, months away - but this is my intention.

Not really. If you report valid bugs, I'm willing to fix them. However,
I don't use pythondialog anymore, so unless this changes, you won't see
releases bringing new features.

Actually, I gave the maintenance to Peter Astrand in August 2004, but
not much happened from that...

Ummm, well... obviously, nothing happens on sf.net anymore.

I could start maintaining again pythondialog on
http://people.via.ecp.fr/~flo/, provided that it isn't too much work
(when I gave the maintainership hat to Peter Astrand, he was using it
with xdialog, which wasn't perfectly compatible with cdialog, and I
wasn't personally interested in working around these incompatibilities,
so as I wasn't able to spend enough time on it, I decided to let him
adopt pythondialog). Maybe I should use another name, such as
fpythondialog, to avoid confusion. Oh well.

Anyway, if you want your patch to be included (after review), you should
send it...

--form', and I patched your code with a function that implements this.

OK. I'd say we can wait for several things:
  - user support ("Yes, that would be nice to have pythondialog in
    Debian!");
  - your software being usable enough to be uploaded to Debian;
  - the Debian Python policy, which is (slowly) undergoing important
    changes with respect to Python modules packaging.

Yes, I am writing an HTTP based semantic publication framework based
around DocBook. It is currently under development locally but will be
released under the GNU GPL when available for the public.

I intend to use dialog for the back-end admin interface - but do not
want to stray too far down this path without knowing it to be
feasible.

Yes. Hence a Debian package (python-dialog?) would be ideal.

Is you own package free software? In this case, could you please post a

What do you intend to do?
  - upload your package in Debian;
  - or maintain a Debian package of your software for internal or public
    use, but not in the Debian archive?

I am a Debian developer, so I can probably help.

If an upload to the Debian archive is to be considered, I'd like to hear
about other users. So, if you are lurking and interested, please speak
up.

PS: Only one release on SourceForge ever, and it is even missing both
    the ChangeLog file and the documentation that version 2.06 had. I
    chose the wrong person to hand maintainership to. :-/

I find your packages very useful and would like to add it as a
dependency to my own.

This poses a problem however as I would like to package mine as a
Debian archive so uses don't have to worry about dependencies etc -
but I cannot do this before dialog is also a Debian (or at least
Cheeseshop) package.

Are there any plans for such things in the future?

1) Is development of this module still active?
2) Does it have support for n-ary logic when selecting checklist items? 
(as opposed to yes/no)
3) Does it support dynamic checklist menus, which change depending on 
what is selected?
4) Does it support word-wrap of checklist menu items?

only if another box is checked?

Can it have submenus, as in the linux kernel menuconfig? ( such as a 
cycle between ( A, B, [ ]) and B inserts a submenu?

Hi, I'm the new maintainer for the pythondialog project, which has also 
merged with Florent Rougons "pythondialog2". Here's the news:

* I've made a new release, 2.7, which contains all of Florent Rougons 
enhancements and more. 

* I've closed the forums, and opened this mailing list instead. Subscribe 
to this list if you are interested in pythondialog. 

* I've submitted an entry to freshmeat.net.
