hi all,
Just thought i'd post a quick message clarifying the status of the app.
Dave's post (forwarded here) was a little misleading, I didn't
set out to create an full blown outliner for Linux, rather, a way to
connect the outliners out there that work on Linux to Manila.
I hope that was clear from the page on my site.
The app as it is now: Its really pretty simple, based on PyManila, the
app can currently: flip a manila homepage, blog text to the homepage,
list stories on a site, and download selected story to an OPML file
(this is the thing I really wanted).
Obviously the download/upload'ing of files to the server doesn't apply
to blog services like Blogger, but it would certainly be possible to
incorporate Blogger support and just hide details of the Manila support
to create a generic blog app.
Presumably things like Zope could be supported too, I've never really
investigated Zope but I'm sure its possible.
Anyway, I hadn't planned on creating an Ouliner itself, just a way of
connecting/converting outline documents used on Linux to Manila. From
there though, the obvious step is to create a more generic weblog client
that can be used with other CMS's.
