I'm trying to put together a new release for 0.8.2 (I've spent the last 
few days tearing my hair trying to figure out why cvs access was no 
longer working for me - "What did I change??" - when suddenly today it 
just started working again - so either I'm changing something with *no* 
clue about it, or there's something going on external to my laptop).

I'd suggest leaving the changes out until after this release, just for 
conservatism's sake - but if there's a good reason to put it in, and you 
reckon it's stable enough, let me know so I can wait for it ....
