Ranulf Doswell - 2007-05-03

Well, that's not bad progress at all, at least from an encouragement point of view!

Last night, I checked in a bunch of changes that provide the initial support for image blitting using the SPU. There's still a few kinks to be worked out but initial tests have shown that using 4 SPUs allows the alpha transparency version of breakout to run at 720p at full framerate. And that's before I've even vectorised the blend function!

This morning, I log on to find that python-ps3 has nudged its way over the 1000 boundary, from 1058 yesterday to 973 today. Not bad at all! In some ways, though, I find it disappointing that I've achieved that high a ranking with only 13 commits and 12 downloads - there must be an awful lot of inactive projects out there... :(

But seriously though, those downloads stats, although still low, are encouraging. It seems that since moving to sourceforce people are just randomly finding the project and downloading rather than the very limited downloads I had before (about 10) and then only the the days immediately after posting on a fourm.

So, a big thank you to everyone who's downloaded so far, and I'll try to get the latest changes into a stable release as soon as possible! Once that's tidied up, I'll have the first release I'll be happy with!

Cheers,
    Ralf.
