I was in the process of converting some of my old blog posts, and ran
across this issue. Turns out, if you do either: *[]() some text* or
_[]() some text_, you end up with actual asterisks and underscores
rather than having thing emphasized. I first noticed it in an
unordered list, but it turns out the same problem happens in regular
text to. I've attached a sample text file that will reproduce the
problem.
