Two spaces, followed by a link, are converted to a line break, which
is not the behaviour of the original implementation.

Thanks for the report Torsten. I've filed this as a ticket [1] so we
don't forget about it. I have an idea what may be causing this, but
I'm not sure yet.

Torsten, I can't seem to reproduce this. Could you provide an example?
Are you using the latest code in the Git repo?
