I try to not add to the core script features that aren't part of
Markdown.  If you want, you can bring this up on the main markdown
list.  If they like the idea, I would add it to python-markdown too.

I don't know of anyone who did this as an extension, but this should
be hard to do.  It would be a great exercise for learning how to write
extensions! :)
