I agree that redundant files are inelegant and a waste of space. But you mention solving this by using symlinks. That seems to me a good idea in a Linux environment, but PySolFC is not only used by Linux users. I don't use Windows 7, but I believe there's some feature called 'libraries' that sounds like MS are at last catching on to some of the things that are standard in the Unix family. But I don't think XP has anything like this.

So removing some of these redundancies probably means changes to the program code.
