Hi,

I'd like to maintain the django-registration pypi package (https://pypi.python.org/pypi/django-registration).

The previous maintainer (James Bennett) has made it clear that he no longer wants to maintain the package.

I've been maintaining a fork for some time: https://github.com/macropin/django-registration and would like to publish a new version.

What's the process here?

Thanks,

Andrew

Hi, James should be able to assign you as an owner of the listing on PyPI.

I've tried contacting James again. If he does not respond, what are the options here?

Since James is unresponsive I can grant you access to the project on PyPI. What's your PyPI username?

    It's 'macropin'. Thanks.

    Done. Sorry for the delay.

Thanks. For a short time there I had access and pushed a beta release.

Did James remove my access? If that's the case can you please purge the v1.1 beta release from django-registration. I don't want it to remain up and cause further confusion.

Honestly, I don't have time, nor the will to deal with an uncooperative (ex) maintainer. I'll just release under a new name.

Yes, James did remove your access. He has made it clear that he wishes to remain in control of that project.

Sorry that this has caused grief for you. But maybe some good will come out of it by publicly formalising the PyPi process and declaring the expected behaviour of package maintainers.

FWIW, I made James aware of this request early on: https://twitter.com/macropin/status/501241583006531585

For anyone that stumbles across this: Django Registration (redux) has been released under 'django-registration-redux'.
