How big is the file being uploaded?

The exe file is 1.6 meg and zipped its 1.2 meg (I tried to upload both and got the same error, I only need to upload one)

Was the file created by distutils? Only files created by distutils are currently allowed (to prevent people uploading arbitrary .exes).

hmm that must be it, the installer was created with Inno. I didn't use the distutils because the program really should be installed in the windows program files not in pythons sitepackages. I also needed to create windows groups and install a windows service and it all seemed easier to do with Inno. So I guess I'll have to host it on my website? or is something else I could do?

So how are source code files handeled? or are only EXE's screened out?

All files are screened such that only files generated by distutils are allowed.

Ok thanks for the info, it looks like I'm out of luck then, I'll just host it on my own server and add a link to it in my pypi page

I get the same error when I upload a distutils generated tar.bz2 file of pyspread.
tar.gz and zip files can still be uploaded.

The file size is smaller than 400 kB.

    Any workaround?
