The pyPgSQL.PgSQL module does not use asynchronous connections. If you need to use ansynchronous connections you will have to use pyPgSQL.libpq module, which exposes the appropiate API. Unfortunatly, you will not have access to the DB-API 2.0 constructs. I do not have plans at this time to use asynchronous connections in pyPgSQL.PgSQL.
