Dear PyObjC Users,
I work at one of Apple largest retailers in Europe. Currently we have a
pain-in-the-ass POS system running through remote desktop. We are =20
investigating alternatives, but none of them meet our requirments. We =20
would like to have a fast customizable osx-native system based on open
source products. So I decided to try writing one. I have a PHP/ MySQL
background, and learning Python which is going quite smooth.
When I saw PyObjC I decided to try making the POS with the following =20
This is working quite well for me. Actually I am already able to do som=
great stuff. Check out a live demo on http://www.koen.nu/upload/=20
It is connected to my mysql db with 4000 products and creates orders =20
live. Just type in 'mini ipod' for instance, and drag your favorite =20
color to the order :-) Check your console for sql output.
Although I was able to make this work pretty fast, I keep on hitting th=
same wall. I really find it hard to figure out the way you design PyObj=
apps. For instance; I did everything through bindings, but I have no
idea if this is a good idea for my setup. Actually I don't know if this
is a good setup at all. Or is it?
There are some examples out there, but they are all about
manipulating local NSMutableDictionaries. Is there anyone who can =20
provide me for instance with an example how to design a little multi-=20
window application? Or how to add an entry in my local array through an
NSForm, validating it, and sending it back to a server? I just need an
idea of TheRightWay to approach this.
