The problem is that it's neon that requires those flags, not the 
toplevel configure script.  The toplevel configure script doesn't pass 
flags down to neon, at least last time I tried.

In any case, double clicking a binary installer is quicker than 
compiling something yourself even if the configuration was 
straightforward.
