We want to check out the pymol CVS project (as a non-
developer) as described -
cvs -z3 -
ol co -P modulename
This works fine on my home PC with WinCvs.
It does NOT seem to work at the office, behind our
firewall, and we need to do it from there.
I have installed WinCvs+Cygwin+openSSH, attempting
to create an SSH tunnel, as described
under "Establishing the SSH Tunnel", here -
(Note the phrase "You can now use WinCVS or any
other CVS client. As long as the tunnel is running all
traffic between the CVS client will be piped through the
tunnel and be secure")
I can get as far as -
C:\cygwin>ssh -x -2 -L 2401:localhost:2401
The authenticity of host 'cvs.sf.net (18.104.22.168)' can't
DSA key fingerprint is
Are you sure you want to continue connecting (yes/no)?
Warning: Permanently added 'cvs.sf.net' (DSA) to the

So, it seems I can contact your machine, but as I don't
have the password...
If this had succeeded, I had expected to be able to use
the "pserver" commands through the tunnel.
I have read your docs saying that developers use ssh,
and the rest "pserver". So.....
- what did I miss?
- is this SSH tunnel thing worth pursuing?
- if yes, is there another "anonymous" user/password?
- if no, how can we check out those files??
