Dear PyMOL Users,
Please join me in congratulating Michael Lerner, PhD, for being
awarded the Warren L. DeLano Memorial PyMOL Open-Source Fellowship for
2010--2011. As many of you are undoubtedly aware, Michael developed
the APBS plugin for PyMOL. Out of the nearly 11,000 APBS users
world-wide, more than 8,000 use it through PyMOL.
The Warren L. DeLano Memorial PyMOL Open-Source Fellowship is awarded
by Schrӧdinger to supplement the income of an outstanding member of
the PyMOL open-source community so that s/he can continue to develop
free resources to help scientific progress and the community as a
whole. This fellowship is named in honor of the original author of
PyMOL, Warren DeLano, who sadly passed away in November of 2009.
Michael is the first to be appointed under the new fellowship.
With this fellowship, Michael will have the autonomy to participate in
a PyMOL- or open-source-related software or research activity he
believes is most interesting and will have the greatest impact.
Michael will also help to maintain the PyMOLWiki and support the
open-source community via the pymol-users mailing list. If you wish to
send along a personal thank you and congratulations, Michael can be
reached at mic...@gm....
Fellows are listed on our website (http://pymol.org/fellowship).
Cheers,
-- Jason
