[PyMOL] Continuous surfaces?

I'm trying to create a surface over only a range of residues.  I'm simply
typing

show surface, (chain a AND i;49-63)

The surface I get is not continous and full of holes.  I can't view the
surface from all angles either.  When I generate a surface over the entire
molecule I don't get this problem.

I think it might have something to do with a "slab view" or some kind of
cutaway view, but I'm not sure.  How could I create a surface over a range
of residues that isn't disjointed?
