Hi all,

on a related note: I've applied my old-ish patch + some "fixes" to setup.py to 
the fixes branch of:

   https://bitbucket.org/malb/pyme

In particular,

   $ pip install git+https://bitbucket.org/malb/pyme@fixes

now works on my machine.
