[PyMca] [ANN] PyMca 5.8.7 released

Dear colleagues,

A new release of PyMca is available.

This version corrects a problem introduced in 5.8.2 that prevented the 
use of several ROI Imaging stack plugins.

Files can be downloaded from:

https://sourceforge.net/projects/pymca/files/pymca/PyMca5.8.7/

For MacOS users, once the program installed, it is necessary to execute 
from the terminal the command

sudo xattr -cr /Applications/PyMca5.8.7.app

to be able to execute the program by double-clicking its icon. It also 
works from the terminal by typing:

/Applications/PyMca5.8.7.app/Contents/MacOS/PyMcaMain

People using source installations can follow the "pip install PyMca5" or 
the "pip install pymca" approaches.

Conda users may be better served by using "conda install -c conda-forge 
pymca" (https://anaconda.org/conda-forge/pymca)

amazing turn over time and really thank you!

Dear colleagues,
I hope you all appreciate like I do, Arrmando's reaction time,
his dedication and his prompt responses to users' questions
(some basic, or even sub-basic...).
Can you guesstimate the time and attention required to keep up to
date a multiplatform code like this, when you don't even have
all required Mac/Win/Linux machines?
Do not forget to always quote this amazing and compulsory code
which we've been using for free for the past 15 years or more.

[PyMca] Calculate maximum spectrum of masked region

Dear all,

Could anyone explain me :

  * what the "ROI Imaging. Calculate maximum spectrum of masked region" does
  * where I can find it in the ROI Imaging window

It is available since version 5.8.1 but I did not find it yet. I cannot 
find anything that corresponds to what I can imagine from its name in 
the plugin list in the ROI Imaging window.
