Introduction
pyFresnel is a collection of python scripts/modules for modelling the optics of dielectric layers. So the are modules for modelling the Fresnel coefficients of a single interface, the transmission/reflection of an etalon and a module for thin film transfer matrix calculations. So far this is hardly unique but unlike most similar codes, pyFresnel also considers uniaxial layers which have their optical axes perpendicular to the layer interfaces. This is essential for simulating the optical properties of structures such as quantum wells.
