pykeylogger rocks as is, but it would be cool if it could snap screenshots, either at set intervals, or maybe when it detects typing; so that it would only snap the screenshots when engaged with the keyboard. Like, for example, upon hitting a key, it would wait 5 seconds (to give a chance for some text to be inputted), snap a shot, and then wait maybe 10 seconds, and snap another.

as of v 1.0.0 we have screenshot functionality that saves a portion of the screen around a mouse click.

Currently the tool (1.0.2 if not earlier) does allow you to get screenshots of a configurable area underneath the mouse on click which at least partially answers this request.

do you think it would be useful to have a separate full-screenshot functionality on a timer, as separate from the current mouseclick-driven function?

I found that the screenshot functionality is not very useful and creates large amount images which are not easily sent especially over slow connections. I am not sure what the sollution is on this, but I would think replacing the click snapshot feature with a timer interval feature (only while the computer is being used, and a timer "pause" when it is not being used) may be more useful. Maybe also an option to randomly take a snapshot every 2-15 mins etc.

    Hi,

Thanks for the feedback, I'll add this option in a future release.

That said, if you have a slow connection, you could just disable images. Because a full screenshot can be a pretty big file (quite a bit bigger than the small mouse-click screenshots), so even if they are less frequent, they'll still take up quite a bit of space.

    Hi,

I think snapping screenshots when a certain key is pressed would be a nice feature. An screenshot everytime that the Enter key is pressed would help monitoring the computer.

    Hi
Thanks for your suggestion, sanskbn. That's an interesting alternative for triggering screenshots... I'll work on getting the screenshots into an upcoming release.

The functionality of taking a screenshot at set intervals is now implemented in git

will make a release shortly, upon a bit of further testing.

The screenshotter saves screenshots at fixed intervals, only if there has been user activity detected since the last screenshot, where user activity means keyboard or mouse clicks (but not mouse moves).

Give it a try, would appreciate your feedback.
