I don't have a lot of time to try it right now, but it does sound 
interesting.

It may be useful to use the new lsprof profiler on py++ and then output 
this to a calltree graph to allow a bit more understanding of what is 
going on.  (see: http://ddaa.net/blog/python/lsprof-calltree)
