Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=6392777 By: obearn Thank you fabio, I knew I could be wrong on package usage. However, using the interpreter it seems package are merged depending on pythonpath order. Anyway for now I am using different root packages. Thanks. You should be able to configure PyLint to make that check. See http://pydev.sourceforge.net/pylint.html to see how to enable it (you just have to discover the actual parameters PyLint needs to make it work). Hi: I'm new to eclipse and pydev. I have always used vim and now I'm trying out eclipse. I would like to enforce the maximum line width recommended in pep8, is that possible? I've seen that it can be done for java projects, but I don't know how to do it with pydev in a python project. Best regards, -- Jose M. Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=6391820 By: fabioz In Python that's really not the way to go. Packages should not have the same name... (Python just checks the 1st one that'll succeed in the import and won't go to other paths making a 'merge' of them as Java does). Also note that if what's not working is the actual run (as opposed to code-completion facilities), that's not really Pydev's fault, but Python itself -- and in this case it's not really a bug (it's the way Python works). The usual way to work in python is that each project has a root and your namespace starts there. E.g.: Django project starts with 'django', so, all your imports start with from django import XXX. If you have another project that's an extension to the django project, you'd start it with something different like 'djangoex' (with a different namespace instead of something as'django.ex' -- which is something that'd be OK in Java). Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=6388966 By: obearn I develop a python application with multiple subprojects (I am new to python :) ) Each project declares packages like org.myapp.mysubproject.[...]. If I try to reference a project from another pydev won't let me use a module from the referenced project and I won't be able to run my current module. After looking at the PYTHONPATH generated by pyDev I noticed that the sources from the current project comes before the sources of the referenced project. Debugging with the python interpreter, I have the following result : - Adding an egg of the referenced module OK - PYTHONPATH with referenced module first OK - PYTHONPATH with current module first NOK I would say that the default behaviour is to declare referenced module first since it works like egg references in the interpreter. So well, is that really a bug ? Yes I come from java, and I can be completely wrong about packages usage in python ;) Olivier ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum.
