The following forum message was posted by at http://sourceforge.net/projects/pydev/forums/forum/293649/topic/4657770: Ok, I do have errors in my error log. I'm not too familiar with Eclipse so I didn't know exactly what you were referring to. They all look like this:
For input string: "9,0" Exception stack trace: java.lang.NumberFormatException: For input string: "9,0" at java.lang.NumberFormatException.forInputString(NumberFormatException.java:65 ) at java.lang.Integer.parseInt(Integer.java:481) at java.lang.Integer.parseInt(Integer.java:514) at org.python.pydev.builder.pylint.PyLintVisitor$PyLintThread.passPyLint(PyLint Visitor.java:301) at org.python.pydev.builder.pylint.PyLintVisitor$PyLintThread.run(PyLintVisitor .java:107) Session Data: eclipse.buildId=M20100211-1343 java.version=1.6.0_22 java.vendor=Sun Microsystems Inc. BootLoader constants: OS=linux, ARCH=x86_64, WS=gtk, NL=en_US Command-line arguments: -os linux -ws gtk -arch x86_64
There's one for every line pylint finds an issue on, it seems. Also, though I said in my original post that I was on Mac OS X, I migrated my workspace to my Linux machine, hence the session data, but am getting the same problems. |

The following forum message was posted by gerenukk at http://sourceforge.net/projects/pydev/forums/forum/293649/topic/4635781: It's hard to show a code snippet since as I said it (usually) works if I copy it to a new file. It must be some settings problem. Anyway, the errors disappeared. I suspect it is because I had an old version of Python in the grammar setting. |

Strange, it should work just pointing to the new interpreter. (note that it'll only make the change after you save your file). How are you checking if the encoding is not OK? (after saving the file, you should be able to go to edit > set encoding and see if the current encoding matches the one you entered -- in this case utf-8). If it still doesn't work, please check if you have something in your error log. Cheers, Fabio |

The following forum message was posted by at http://sourceforge.net/projects/pydev/forums/forum/293649/topic/4657770: I'm using Eclipse Helios build id 20110218-0911 and PyDev 2.2.1.2011071313 on Mac OS X 10.7. First, I should mention that everything was working fine before I upgraded to OS X Lion. After doing that, things were very broken, but I was able to fix most problems by reconfiguring PyDev (updating the library paths) and reinstalling PyLint using easy_install. Everything seems to be working now except for one thing. When I save a file or do a project clean, PyLint runs successfully and shows the output in Console, but none of the issues it finds are shown in the Problems tab. Any idea how to fix this? |

The following forum message was posted by erickrf at http://sourceforge.net/projects/pydev/forums/forum/293649/topic/4657240: Eclipse is not correctly detecting some of my files' encoding. I found this ticket in the tracker, which supposedly addressed the problem: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=1580757&group_id=85796 &atid=577329, but it happens with me all the same. I tried writing at the first line of a UTF-8 file both
# -*- coding: utf-8 -*-
and
# coding=utf-8
but it didn't help; it seems Eclipse opened it with the default system encoding. Am I missing something? |

The following forum message was posted by rsflux at http://sourceforge.net/projects/pydev/forums/forum/293649/topic/4652696: PyDev appears to be incorrectly parsing a file (with Grammar Version set to 3.0) with the 2.* rules for local imports. I'm posting here to make sure this isn't a known issue; if I get the OK, I'll post an issue in the bug tracker. To reproduce, set up a project with this relationship: main.py pkg (folder) -> __init__.py -> foo.py (Contains: import math print(math.pi) ) -> math.py (empty file) If foo.py attempts to "import math", PyDev thinks that the interpreter is going to import pkg.math, instead of the built in math module. This is correct in Python 2.*, but is no longer the case in 3.* (see PEP 328 here http://www.python.org/dev/peps/pep-0328/). Because of this error, any uses of the math symbol within foo.py, such getting the .pi attribute, gets tagged with an "Undefined variable from import" error. Auto-completion and go to definition functionality is also broken. As a fix, when a PyDev project is in 3.0 Grammar mode, it should always use absolute paths in imports except when using the dot syntax (from .math import something). Thoughts? -Ryan |

(seems like a permission issue for me, but I may be wrong). Do you have something in your error log? Is PyDev under the eclipse/plugins? If you still cannot make it work, maybe a solution would be getting Aptana Studio 3 (where PyDev is pre-installed) -- you can get the standalone version from: http://aptana.com/products/studio3/download Cheers, Fabio |

The following forum message was posted by tooltim at http://sourceforge.net/projects/pydev/forums/forum/293649/topic/4651083: Hi everyone, I have got a couple of compiled python files without the source. I include these in Pydev via the forced builtins. However I cannot use calltips when instantiating them. This problem only occurs with those 'compiled' imports. I can only call the respective constructor via __init__(...) directly - then calltips work. Having to remove the __init__ everytime when creating a new object is very annoying. Is this a bug or am I missing something? Cheers, Tim |

It's exactly the use-case I told you before: the python from mac doesn't ship with the .py files (only the .pyc files). PyDev needs those to properly do a bunch of static-code analysis, so, if you can, grab the python version from python.org and use that version (otherwise, grab the version from python.org and just extract the .py files from /Lib over your current installation of python in mac os).
