Hello again; I am having fits getting Eclipse to work. First the OS info: Debian Linux stretch version KDE Desktop Intel i5-750 processor ( 64 bit, 4 processors, 2.65 GHz) When I start Eclipse with an empty workspace and no plugins installed the java package settles out and everything seems to be OK. When I access Help -> Marketplace sometimes marketplace hangs and java starts using about 25% of my total cpu time. This lasts indefinitely. I can not close the Eclipse application unless I go into the process table and either kill java or select "show application window" (I am using the KDE System Monitor.) If I go to install software and select a source the application shows pending and hangs there. If I actually do get market place to work and manage to download pydev, django doesn't show up anywhere in the Eclipse application. I haven't gotten to the point of creating a project yet. I have installed the application from eclipse-java-mars-1-linux-gtk-x86_64.tar.gz. I unpack the file to an eclipse directory. I open the directory and, using Dolphin, drag and dropped the directory in the eclipse directory into the /opt directory. I then create a softlink with: ln -s /opt/eclipse/eclipse /usr/local/bin/eclipse. I set up the desktop icon using the KDE application editor. This problem is hard to characterize. Both hanging and excessive cpu usage by java are involved. Both can be brought on by more than one action. I hope someone can shed some light on the issues. Your help will be sincerely appreciated. PyVmMonitor 1.0.1 is now available for download *Release Highlights:* - Pstats files may be passed in the command line to be opened in pyvmmonitor-ui. - Fixed issue opening PyVmMonitor in Mac OS (El Capitan). - Opening PStats file may fail because it's linked to a Python version, so, in such a situation, PyVmMonitor allows opening it using a different interpreter. - Command line examples are properly wrapped with quotes on Windows. See: http://www.pyvmmonitor.com for more information. *What is PyVmMonitor?* PyVmMonitor is a profiler with a simple goal: being the best way to profile a Python program. *Features* - Attach profiler to a running (CPython) program - Deterministic profiling through cProfile/profile integration - On demand profiling with Yappi integration - Analyze existing PStats results - Open DOT files - Programatic API access - Profile on a different machine - Multiple processes support (multiprocessing, django...) - Live sampling/CPU view - Select time range - Group samples by method or line - PyDev integration - PyCharm integration Enjoy! I have been having fits trying to get Eclipse-pydev to play nice with pyvenv. The major problem is that Eclipse properties > PyDev-Django gives: Django manage.py File :manage.py could not be found. Django settings module Module: settings could not be found My project is /home/gary/workspace/Testing The manage.py file is at Testing/testing/manage.py The settings.py file is at Testing/testing/testing/settings.py If, in Eclipse, I go to Testing > Properties > PyDev-PYTHONPATH > String Substitution Variables and edit DJANGO_MANAGE_LOCATION to be /home/gary/workspace/Testing/testing/manage.py and if I edit DJANGO_SETTINGS_MODULE to be /home/gary/Testing/testing/testing/settings.py and hit apply then OK and then go back to the String Substitution Variables, they have been reset to the old wrong values. I need to be able to change DJANGO_MANAGE_LOCATION and the DJANGO_SETTINGS _MODULE variables. How do I do this Gary R. |

Hi all; Why is my Eclipse-Pydev continue to take up 50% of my cpu time even when it is just sitting there. This when I am running an Intel -5-750 processor with 4 cpu's running at a minimum of 2.65 GHz. Is this normal? Also, the menu bar is black letters on a very dark gray background. The script just disappears. I tried changing the window preferences but could not find any way to change these parameters. Any help will be appreciated. Gary R. |

Release Highlights: ------------------------------- * Debugger * Cython speedup modules are now available for the debugger (see performance improvements at: https://www.speedtin.com/reports/7_pydevd_cython). * It is considerably faster even without the speedup modules (see performance improvements at: https://www.speedtin.com/reports/8_pydevd_pure_python). * When debugging multiple processes the console wasn't being updated to the selected stack in the debug view. * Many bug-fixes. * Improved the search to always play safe and update the index so that the matches are always consistent (#PyDev-634). * Fixed issue renaming top-level module on refactoring. * Refactoring has option to rename variable to a standard case style. * Improved the parser that extracted the outline for global tokens to deal with async and consider declarations inside ifs. * Code completion of properties with @property no longer shows arguments parenthesis (#PyDev-453). * Preventing a freeze if some code-analysis takes too much time (#PyDev-636). * Ctrl+1 can be used to wrap/unwrap the contents of brackets (patch by yohell). As for the virtualenvs, which libraries you have in each virtualenv? If you're getting tangled up in the virtualenvs, my initial suggestion would be just keeping a single virtualenv with the libraries for all the projects you need and use that as the interpreter in PyDev and then or each project create a new pydev project pointing to existing sources initially without any PYTHONPATH configured and then configure the project source folders (i.e.: folders to be added to the PYTHONPATH: http://www.pydev.org/manual_101_project_conf2.html) and to finish, set the project as a Django Project in PyDev (right-click project > PyDev > Set as Django Project). By doing so, you should be able to right-click the project > run as > pydev: django (and things as code-completion, etc should be working). If you still have problems, pointing to github with your project contents would help a lot (don't forget to commit the .project and the .pydevproject files so that I can actually inspect how you configured things there). Hi all; My first post to this site. Hope I don't screw it up. I am working on an archiving project for an organization. To facilitate the learning process, I have set up multiple virtual environments using pyvenv. I was using Ninja-ide but found it wanting (no development or bug fixing). I have switched over to Eclipse with the PyDev plugin. System: Debian Stretch (9 ?) Kde desktop Python 3.4 (In venv) Django 1.8 (In venv) Eclipse Mars.1 One venv is being used for my project, another is used for the mysite tutorial and third was being used for Tango With Django. I quit the third because of problems using Django 1.7 and Python 2.7. I have the original files in /root/MySiteHowto and /root/UUArchive. Both these projects work but I got bogged down because of IDE problems. The project structures are standard layouts. If you need this info the easiest way is to look at the djangoproject.com documentation. I wish to change the projects to /home/gary/workspace/(mysite and UUArchive) and put them under Eclipse project control. I have tried several times to transpose the mysite project but with poor results. I get tangled up in the virtual environment and the project preferences. I can't believe that I am the first person to encounter this problem. A cook book method would be really nice but all help will be appreciated. Gary R |

Hi, I recently released a new version of our Modeler for workflow data modeling and execution. This version brings possibility of defining custom module in pythonhttp://systemincloud.com/tasks/#0.8.0/commons/pythontask Examples you can find here: https://github.com/systemincloud/sic-examples/tree/master/com.systemincloud.examples.tasks.pythontask/src/test/py/tasks Soon, I will provide some video examples on our youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCvfS-lPXeKjMoFAhKIzyf7A I have reused PyDev IDE and API when developing above functionality. Python tasks (modules) can be executed with cpython or jython. Fabio, many thanks for your work! Now, as PyDev became important part of my application I will try to engage in PyDev development. (jython should have all dependencies builtin, but it seems the version you're using doesn't have them). Cheers, Fabio |

Well, doing pydevd.settrace() adds a programatic breakpoint, so, it should always work... as for why it doesn't work, on some situations Python itself kills the debugging (for instance, if you have a StackOverflowError anywhere, even if treated, it'll break the debugger), and I know it can have some issues on some frameworks... Can you give more details on your code? Do you have some code you can share where I can reproduce the issue? Best Regards, Fabio |

hi, im using eclipse 4.5.1 and pydev from http://pydev.org/updates. breakpoints are just ignored and the program runs to the end, it works for a method only containing a print statement...there pydev stops to show debugging information. but for another method in the same file, it does not work. that particular method as a for loop enclosing another, but the debugger just skipts straight to the end of that method and shows the output after both loops ran to the end just above the first loop is a breakpoint. adding: import pydevd pydevd.settrace() source:http://stackoverflow.com/questions/9486871/pydev-breakpoints-not-working to the code says it cant find "pydevd" but the code stops a line below settrace and i can run the for loops step by step. any ideas? |
