Hi, I'm running into some trouble when my RCP application requires the pydev packages and I'm building the app using the headless building stuff from PDE. Specifically the headless build stuff seems to pick up the org.python.pydev plugin as a source plugin instead of a binary plugin and thus tries to build it. Of course that fails because the plugin installed via update-manager doesn't contain any source code. I'm wondering if anybody has an idea what could be special about this plugin, compared to the other pydev plugins? Hi Felix, I've just applied all the patches you've sent to the list (thanks a lot). Now, I just wanted to ask you to add new patches to the sourceforge trackers -- you can add them as bugs with the prefix [PATCH] (sometimes I don't have time to apply them right away -- and in this case there's a high probability that they may end up being forgotten if they're just in the list and not in the trackers). Thanks for the patches again, Cheers, Fabio On Mon, May 12, 2008 at 7:47 AM, Felix Schwarz <fel...@os...> wrote: > > One thing that annoyed me for some months is that I'm unable to delete > files > directly from the PyDev package explorer when using Eclipse 3.4 (M7, had > the > problem with M4, too). > > Symptoms: After click on delete in the context menu in the PyDev package > explorer nothing happens (no window, no message, nothing). One thing that annoyed me for some months is that I'm unable to delete files directly from the PyDev package explorer when using Eclipse 3.4 (M7, had the problem with M4, too). Symptoms: After click on delete in the context menu in the PyDev package explorer nothing happens (no window, no message, nothing). The same action the resource navigator works as expected. I found out that the problem is in PyDeleteResourceAction because getStructuredSelection is empty when called by Eclipse. I was able to fix that just by overriding getStructuredSelection but maybe you can just stop to subclass DeleteResourceAction. -- Felix Schwarz Dipl.-Informatiker Gubener Str. 38 10243 Berlin Germany www.schwarz.eu - software development and consulting |

This is really the day of the spaces for me. After several frustrating experiences with Un*x/Linux (no spaces in the shebang line) and virtualenv (also a spaces related bug) I finally found a software I can fix ;-) Shortly after applying my last patch I found that the completion server won't start either. Patch attached, still a bit rough. I had to use hg in order to get a nice (and clean) patch so you have to apply it to org.python.pydev and use p1. -- Felix Schwarz Dipl.-Informatiker Gubener Str. 38 10243 Berlin Germany www.schwarz.eu - software development and consulting |

Hi, initially I just wanted to fix an annoying NPE but then I stumbled across bug 1523582 [1]. For some reason which is still unknown to me the parameter string (although quoted correctly by pydev) does not make it to python. To be more exact, the string gets through but the quoting is missing so Python complains that it can't find the script file which is used to detect Python's library directories. This is not bound to path names which contain spaces, a command line like 'python -c "import sys; print sys.path"' doesn't work either (syntax error after "import"). I always Fortunately the solution is quite easy: Do not munge the command line parameters (which are available as a String[]) into a String but pass them as String[]. If you do this, there is no problem as the command line parameters will not be split (getRuntime().exec is not a shell). Generally speaking it is much better (safer) not to munge parameters but just to pass them to the exec call. With the patch attached I can launch Eclipse and configure the Python interpreter. Without the patch I always the error described in [1]. The code has be cleaned up a bit but I was not sure what coding style etc. you guys prefer. Furthermore I did not get the tests to run (some setup problem on my side) so maybe I broke something. happy hacking, [1]http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=1523582&group_id=85796&atid=577329 -- Felix Schwarz Dipl.-Informatiker Gubener Str. 38 10243 Berlin Germany www.schwarz.eu - software development and consulting |

I noticed that several variables are missing from the TestDependent templates. Btw: Maybe you should update the screenshot on http://pydev.sourceforge.net/developers.html as there are more projects in CVS now. -- Felix Schwarz Dipl.-Informatiker Gubener Str. 38 10243 Berlin Germany www.schwarz.eu - software development and consulting |

Where does PyDev Explorer keep track of projects? I deleted a project and its still listed in there, I can't delete it via right click->delete either. This is with eclipse 3.4M7 and latest pydev. John |

Actually, pydev manages the pythonpath so that when your run a project, the actual sys.path is defined by the paths in your interpreter pythonpath (which is the system pythonpath) plus the paths from the project where the run is being requested (which is composed by the paths in that project + the paths from the projects that the project has a dependency on). > > OK, I think I have the PyDev perspective open. Release Highlights in Pydev: ---------------------------------------------- * Outline view: patch by Laurent Dore: better icons for different types of fields methods. * Outline view: patch by Laurent Dore: more filters. * PyLint: working dir is the directory of the analyzed file. * Project explorer: fixed bug on integration with Dynamic Web Project. * Extract method: fixed bug when trying to refactor structure: a = b = xxx. * Generate constructor using fields: working for classes that derive from builtin classes. * Override methods: working for classes that derive from builtin classes. * Debugger can use psyco for speedups: see http://pydev.blogspot.com/2008/02/pydev-debugger-and-psyco-speedups.html. * Debugger: shows parent frame when stepping in a return event. * Go to previous/next method: (Ctrl+Shift+Up/Down): does not rely on having a correct parse anymore. * Auto-formatting: No space after comma if next char is new line. * Code Completion: Handling completions from attribute access in classes (accessed from outside of the class). * Auto-indent: Better handling when indenting to next tab position within the code. * Caches: Some places were recreating the cache used during a completion request instead of using the available one (which could have a memory impact on some situations). Hello, I have Ubuntu 7.10 (Gutsy) and autocomplete on gtk works for me - just make sure that when adding a new interpreter, you check the two entries starting with "/var/lib/python-support" (they are not checked by default). regards, chris Fabio Zadrozny schrieb: > Yes, that's right... pydev only supports symlinks in the interpreter > configuration (in the source folder, symlinks don't work...) > > Cheers, > > Fabio > > On Wed, Mar 5, 2008 at 5:45 AM, JeanMichel FRANCOIS <to...@gm...> wrote: >> Hi, >> On ubuntu most of python lib are symlinked, just check with an $ >> ls -lh /usr/lib/python and Pydev doesn 't support symlink source folder. >> >> >> >> > Hello. >> > I am a developer of Nova, a Linux distribution based on Gentoo. Yes, that's right... pydev only supports symlinks in the interpreter configuration (in the source folder, symlinks don't work...) Hi, On ubuntu most of python lib are symlinked, just check with an $ ls -lh /usr/lib/python and Pydev doesn 't support symlink source folder. > Hello. > I am a developer of Nova, a Linux distribution based on Gentoo. Hello. I am a developer of Nova, a Linux distribution based on Gentoo. When I install eclipse+pydev I have auto completion on gtk, i.e gtk.Label() is show in the auto complete list even without put gtk in force builin libs. But with ubuntu, it not work. Any idea why with ubuntu gtk is not auto complete? (sorry for my english, I spoke spanish) Thanks, JJ |

Hi All, Pydev and Pydev Extensions 1.3.13 have been released Details on Pydev Extensions: http://www.fabioz.com/pydev Details on Pydev: http://pydev.sf.net Details on its development: http://pydev.blogspot.com Release Highlights in Pydev Extensions: ----------------------------------------------------------------- * Debug Console: will print exceptions raised during the evaluation. * Debug Console: will print the result of the evaluation if a valid statement is sent (so, 'print' is not needed for simple evaluations anymore). Release Highlights in Pydev: ---------------------------------------------- * Outline view: working correctly again. * Keybinding conflict: Alt+shift+T+XXX refactoring keybindings are now only defined in the pydev scope. * Hyperlink: Using new hyperlink mechanism (added at Eclipse 3.3). What is PyDev? --------------------------- PyDev is a plugin that enables users to use Eclipse for Python and Jython development -- making Eclipse a first class Python IDE -- It comes with many goodies such as code completion, syntax highlighting, syntax analysis, refactor, debug and many others. Hi All, Pydev and Pydev Extensions 1.3.12 have been released Details on Pydev Extensions: http://www.fabioz.com/pydev Details on Pydev: http://pydev.sf.net Details on its development: http://pydev.blogspot.com Release Highlights in Pydev Extensions: ----------------------------------------------------------------- * Mark occurrences: only requested on mouse-clicks and cursor changes. * Code-Analysis: No longer running in UI-Thread (bug which slowed things down in 1.3.10 and 1.3.11). * Code-Analysis: Cache optimizations. * Code-Analysis: Fixed 'statement without effect' when raising exception with arguments without using the exception constructor. * Code-Analysis: Fixed 'statement without effect' on tuple creation. * Code-Analysis: __path__ found for packages (__init__.py files). * Context-insensitive info: Correctly updated when code-analysis is off (or if file is not analyzed). Release Highlights in Pydev: ---------------------------------------------- * Code Coverage: coverage.py updated to version 2.78 (http://nedbatchelder.com/code/modules/coverage.html). * Optimization: Caches (with no memory overhead) added for a number of situations, which can speed completion requests a lot (up to 40x on tests). Should not be difficult... although there's not much info about it... let me try giving you a brief explanation... the idea is that you can create a class that's a subclass of PyDevBuilderVisitor and override the needed methods (in your case, probably only visitChangedResource)... and register it as such: <extension point="org.python.pydev.pydev_builder"> <builder_participant class="my.pydev.BuilderClass"/> </extension> and you also want to give it a priority higher than code-completion (so that it's built after it, as you want may want the code-completion caches built already): @Override protected int getPriority() { return PyCodeCompletionVisitor.PRIORITY_CODE_COMPLETION+1; //just after the code-completion priority } in the visitChangedResource you can do something as: if(module == null){ module = getSourceModule(resource, document, nature); } module.getAst() --> returns the visitor structure you want to traverse.. And then just create the markers (regular eclipse markers) and add them to the resource being visited. Cheers, Fabio p.s. I'm putting pydev-code in the cc (those questions really belong there) |
