Sounds like your just unziping in the wrong location. You might be in a bit
of a mess now if you've unzipped files in the wrong place - you may need to
roll back your changes or start with a fresh Eclipse.

You should simply end up with folders like this:

/eclipse/features/org.python.pydev.feature_1.2.4

/eclipse/plugins/org.python.pydev_1.2.4
/eclipse/plugins/org.python.pydev.ast_1.2.4
/eclipse/plugins/org.python.pydev.core_1.2.4
/eclipse/plugins/org.python.pydev.debug_1.2.4
/eclipse/plugins/org.python.pydev.help_1.2.4
/eclipse/plugins/org.python.pydev.jython_1.2.4
/eclipse/plugins/org.python.pydev.parser_1.2.4
/eclipse/plugins/org.python.pydev.templates_1.2.4
